Learn to design beautiful 2D visual effects with the free game engine Godot.

This hands-on text-based tutorial series will teach you essential techniques to design effects such as explosions, ghost trails behind the player as in Castlevania games, lasers, background animation, and more.

What you will learn

You will learn to:

  • Design advanced visual effects with Godot’s particle systems.
  • Layer particles and textures to achieve professional visuals.

To follow this course, you should know how to work with Godot’s editor. Things such as adding nodes, resources inside of nodes, and using the Inspector.

I was very confused when trying to learn the VFX side of Godot on my own, mainly because I am not a visual person. This course broke everything down in ways that were super simple to understand and combined with the Shader Secrets, I've made effects I thought were well beyond my skill level with ease.
