Hi, I've tried to run some Demos on Android, with a P9 Lite, and it seems that as long as we have a WorldEnvironment node and change the background_mode to canvas, the FPS drop to near 0. This is an issue to get the glow effect from this node.
More specific to this Ghost Trail Demo, the same slowness occurs on Android, it seems because of the ViewportTexture used in the TextureRect, linked to the Viewport node.
Would you have any advice? Thank you!
I'm sorry but we haven't worked on Android. Does your device have good openGL drivers? There are so many hardware combinations on Android you'll stumble upon issues like these. Sometimes they're an engine-side bug, sometimes it's the device.
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I am not sure about the openGL drivers to be honest. I tested with a more recent phone, Oppo Reno 2Z, and the FPS drop is still there, like 15 FPS for the GhostTrail demo.
We'll try to find out the reason these things are slow and we may have to to find substitutes for creating the same effects. Losing the glow from WorldEnvironment is loss, but it could probably be replaced by shaders.
