The instruction is a little bit confusing.

It says to choose the "closed" animation, set a keyframe with the red color and that this creates a keyframe in the "open" animation

then it says to choose the "closed" animation again, choose the green color and make a keyframe

just make sure you choose red in the "closed" animation and green in the "open" and it should work
